Alyssa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker through the State of Texas. Alyssa received her Bachelor of Social Work in 2019 and her Master of Social Work in 2020, both from Angelo State University.
Alyssa spent her undergraduate and graduate field education at West Texas Counseling & Guidance providing case management for clients needing resources throughout the community, assisting clients with creating and maintaining goals as well as observing therapy sessions during that time. Alyssa has experience working with adult individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, insomnia, substance abuse, risk management, and suicide prevention.
Alyssa has received training in several different evidence based modalities to assist clients such as, suicide prevention from Christine Padesky, Ph.D., renowned psychologist in the field of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, CBT-I&N for insomnia and nightmares, and is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Alyssa also has training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) to help clients who have PTSD symptoms.
Alyssa utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist clients in understanding and overcoming how unhelpful thought process affect feelings and behaviors, with the goal of helping clients take control of their thoughts and emotions.
