Makayla received her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as a minor in Addiction Disorders and Recovery Studies from Texas Tech University in 2017. She went on to receive a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Angelo State University in 2020.

Makayla is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for the state of Texas. She enjoys working with those who struggle with trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, family dynamic, and other mental health concerns. 

In addition, Makayla has experience working with those who are struggling with substance use disorders, and is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) for the state of Texas. She has provided individual and group counseling for men and women in corrections and drug rehabilitation settings, as well as individual settings.

Makayla also enjoys working with children, and is currently working on receiving certification as a Registered Play Therapist. She is under play therapy supervision with Lisa Sobrero.

Makayla focuses on children, teenagers, and adults using distinct trainings and evidence-based techniques in order for clients to reach their therapeutic goals.
